Lionel Messi Set To Launch Film & TV Production Company ‘525 Rosario’
Lionel Messi, one of the world’s greatest-ever footballers and sports stars, is set to launch his own film and TV production company.
Messi (37), now playing for Inter Miami after a brief spell Paris Saint-Germain (and an iconic career at Barcelona), has set up production studio 525 Rosario — the name inspired by his hometown address in Argentina.
The company is a joint venture between the Messi family and Smuggler Entertainment, who produced the Apple TV+ series ‘Messi’s World Cup: The Rise of a Legend.’
Tim Pastore will become the 525 Rosario CEO (currently at Smuggler).
525 Rosario has been put in place to produce unscripted docs, as well as commercial branded storytelling in partnerships with advertisers — all in which will be repped by WME.
“Entertainment has always been a passion for me whether that be on the pitch or in other areas. I’m really motivated by the opportunity to pursue the project we created with Smuggler Entertainment and to expand it further to create content and experiences on a global scale through this new venture,” Messi in a statement.
Messi joins other global stars like LeBron James, Steph Curry, Peyton Manning, Tom Brady, and Serena Williams in producing content to sell to buyers with their own production companies.
“The goal remains to inspire and connect with people around the world in a completely new way, and we are looking forward to this venture,” says an additional statement from the Messi family adds. “We would like to continue advancing in the entertainment sector, bringing new initiatives and productions with global reach through innovative storytelling, programming, and experiences.”
