James Cameron Confirms Michelle Yeoh Is Set To Star In Avatar 4 & 5

Recently, Avatar franchise creator and director James Cameron, revealed the title for the third instalment: ‘Avatar: Fire And Ash.’ This continued speculation of Michelle Yeoh’s involvement, after Disney announced the actress’s role of Dr. Karina Mogue back in 2019.
James Cameron clarified that Yeoh will not be appearing in the third Avatar film.
“Michelle Yeoh won’t be in 3. She’s in 4 and 5,” Cameron told EW. “So that got a little bit misreported. She will be coming in soon to do her part, which is an interesting, fun character.” He continued: “I mean, we’re getting ahead of ourselves now. This whole thing has been planned for years and years. The scripts were all written years ago, through the end of movie 5. So we’ve been working on parts of 4 even as we go along, mostly because we’ve got this young cast. We had to shoot them all while they were still young.”

The untitled fourth and fifth Avatar features are set to release on December 21, 2029 and December 19, 2031.
“We love Michelle,” Cameron said. “She was always a movie star, but she’s blown up into a huge, huge phenomenon. I look forward to working there.”
During D23 this year, James Cameron revealed concept art for the third instalment, and briefly touched on new cultures within the world of Pandora.
‘Avatar’ (2009) generated a world-record $2.9 billion at the global box office, and the sequel ‘Avatar: The Way Of Water’ (2022) performed almost as well with $2.3 billion. This equals out to a box office income of $5.2 billion from just two films — both in which are critically acclaimed and loved by fans.
Both films have marked monumental achievements in visuals effects and innovating filmmaking technology.
‘Avatar: Fire And Ash’ is confirmed to release on December 19, 2025.
