‘Wicked’ is about to make its highly anticipated debut on November 22, and AMC Theatres is taking proactive steps to maintain an enjoyable moviegoing experience. The theater chain is addressing potential disruptions, such as audience sing-alongs, reinforcing its "silence is golden" policy.

AMC released a 30-second advisory featuring scenes from ‘Wicked’ tailored to the musical’s themes. A humorous voiceover reminds viewers: "No talking. No texting. No singing. No wailing. No flirting. And absolutely no name-calling. Enjoy the magic of movies."

Ryan Noonan, AMC spokesperson, highlighted the chain’s commitment to keeping the theater environment distraction-free. “AMC has a long-standing policy that prohibits disruptive behavior,” Noonan told The Indianapolis Star on November 19. He added that the pre-show announcement ties into the spirit of ‘Wicked’ while ensuring audiences are reminded to respect those around them.

For those eager to participate in more interactive screenings, there’s good news. Starting December 25, approximately 1,000 cinemas across North America will offer special sing-along showings of ‘Wicked: Part One.’ These events will allow fans to celebrate the film’s music in a way that won’t disrupt traditional screenings.

Directed by Jon M. Chu, known for ‘Crazy Rich Asians’ and ‘In the Heights,’ ‘Wicked’ stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo as Glinda and Elphaba. The ensemble cast includes Jonathan Bailey, Jeff Goldblum, Michelle Yeoh, and many others. The film opened to rave reviews, holding at 92% from Rotten Tomatoes critics and 99% from audiences.

‘Wicked: Part One’ lands in theaters on November 22, with its sequel slated for release on November 21, 2025.
