Netflix Confirms ‘Beef’ Season 2 With All-Star Cast Including Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Cailee Spaeny
Another season of hit Netflix series ‘Beef’ is about to kick-off.
The anthology series from creator Lee Sung Jin is confirmed to be a go-ahead at Netflix for a second season, with Oscar Isaac, Carey Mulligan, Charles Melton and Cailee Spaeny starring in the next installment. The format will have eight 30-minute episodes (2 less episodes than season 1).
Season two will reportedly focus on a young couple that “witnesses an alarming fight between their boss and his wife, triggering chess moves of favors and coercion in the elitist world of a country club and its Korean billionaire owner.”
Season 1 of ‘Beef’ starred Ali Wong and Steven Yeun, and showed strong at the 2023 Emmys — winning 8 awards, including best limited/anthology series and acting awards for both Ali Wong and Steven Yeun.
After the Emmys, Lee Sung Jin said to The Hollywood Reporter that he is always writing things down for potential story ideas to spring up: “I think Beef will just by its title always have [conflict] simmering underneath, but in terms of what the other layers could be, that’s something that I’d really need to take some time and see deep inside what wants to come out.”
Jin continues as showrunner on season 2 of ‘Beef,’ and serves as executive producer alongside season 1 stars Yeun and Wong.
List of ‘Beef’ season 1 honors: 8 Emmy Awards, 4 Critics Choice Awards, 3 Golden Globe Awards, 2 Gotham Awards, 2 Film Independent Spirit Awards, 2 SAG Awards, and PGA, WGA and AFI Honors (Tudum).
